Summary of Law: The law itself is made up of the written legal code as passed by the Iowa legislature, and the cases decided by the Iowa Court of Appeals and the Iowa Supreme Court. The written legal code is called statutory law, while the Court rulings are called caselaw. Both the statutory law and the caselaw constitute what is collectively referred to as Iowa law.
